Did the Survey. Maybe you should have asked better questions

Post by zeepster » Tue Apr 30, 2013 12:48 pm

Did the Survey. Maybe you should have asked better questions Abes. More specific to production.
Like with regards to Live 9, how the browser is received, does it speed up / slow down productions, do you use the Search function for samples / or at all, would you rather see this/that, how high do you judge Ableton customer care, did you manage to find the link to the forum through ableton.com, etc.

I'm not really feeling that i can get a word in, it's just all you.

I agree.

I didn't see my concerns addressed in this questionaire.

I've got Live 9 , but I still work in Live 8. They should be asking why that outcome is possible for any user.

I share your vision, Angstrom, and too work in Live 8. I just cannot justify Suite 8 => Suite 9 upgrade for the offered price and the benefits I receive from the upgrade, plus all the inconvenience and no longer supported features....

For me it's the same. I own 9 but i work in 8 only.

After all this i learned a lesson about purchasing updates blindly though.

Another one here bought 9, but use 8.
Waiting for a good comunity acepted version..
My plan was anyway to wait a bit with using 9, let the worst stuf get ironed out as usuall on early releases. But im looking forward to using the new stuf. The new eq8 and session recording is huge for my workflow.
Wether or not it is coming late is another question that I dont care so much about anymore.

My only hope is that they would open up a bit more to the comunity.

If you are into game development, take a look at robertsspaceindustries.com
A whole new way of business: comunity driven. They listen to everything the fans say, and everything the company do is open. You vote with polls, likes and dollars. This is a AAA game, which means its "one of the big guys". Little food for thought.

Cakewalk has the best user survey. One question is about the authorization procedure. Most don't have surveys. Some, like Image Line don't bother with a survey because all of their people are involved in their forums.

Did the survey. Hope they read the bit where get to type your thoughts!

I bought live 9 but it is slow compared to 8 for what I do. I am going back to 8 which is a bummer as now I will have to dump all the clips in my set to wav files and reconstruct my set in 8.

My main gripes;
Load times are 4 times longer than 8
Launchpad never initializes I have to unplug it and plug it back in
Having to add folders and not being able to navigate the hdd from the browser all make for a frustrating experience.

Hopefully they will in time fix it all up but it worries me that 9 feels like a regression.

Despite all that Ableton is still a kick ass program that lets me write extremely fast.

Ah. So they needed a survey to ask which questions to put in the survey :|

Me too.

'Tis a shame I can't use the new orchestra sample sets though.

They didn't seem to listen to the feedback on the Beta forum, so why would things change with a lame survey ?

I'm sure they could pick up on whats really going on if they bothered to look at this forum for 5 mins.

Yeah it's disappointing that Abes don't put out a word or anything that says, guys we know, we're working on solutions.

I guess many of us should speak with our wallets come Live 10.

When I month ago tried to wake up people and wrote my concerns
about the direction Ableton goes with Live 9,
almost nobody would listen, but tell me I am a troll.

When I read what is coming and what is not going to be fixed,
I was sure not to update to Live 9.

All new things that came haven't been made by Ableton in first place.

EQ was improved by third party who also made the Glue.
Audio2Midi is third party algorithm too(from french devs if I don't mix it up).

The only one thing they made(beside this survey)
was the clip and curve automation. And all I read so far about curve in Live isn't great.

I don't update Live 8 to the latest survey version and definately wont get Live 9.
I didn't buy this hype and saved my money for Bitwig(where the creativity has gone)...
No! I'll never use the Push-App Live 9 !!!
