How to do Daft Punk's: Get Lucky?

Hi guys,
I am sure I am not the only one who likes the new Daft Punk single.
Listening to the new track, I wanted to re-build the funky disco bass sound they are using. I know they have used real instruments this time, but was just wondering if it would be possible to do this bass also with the instruments that come along with ableton?

I created a instrument rack and added a accoustic bass and a frestless bass, but I must admit, that this comes not really close to what the bass sounds from Daft Punk.

Does anyone have any ideas on how this great sound can be achieved?

You won't get their with Ableton stock sounds. Trillian could possibly nail the bass.

Just listened to it, that's why I chime in... it's in a real 70s vibe. Bee Gees, Pink Floyds "Another brick in the wall" etc. come to mind... anyways. A synth will probably never get you there. Instead you'd need a bass and guitar player.

I mean the song is pretty pedestrian, though not bad. The sounds are pretty basic, too. An E-Piano, a busy quite deep funk-bass with strong mids (maybe very slightly overdriven), a clean, heavily compressed funk-guitar...but! The drums are somewhat interesting. They are xtremely wide; even the kick sounds very stereo. I guess, they used similar but somewhat different samples for left and right. Makes for a unique atmosphere...

As marcoskohler said, Trillian is your best bet from a VST point of view - it's damn good and a lot of people would agree.

It's not cheap, but then it's not just a rompler for acoustic bass sounds, the synth patches and synth engine are very in depth.

If the Ableton sounds aren't up to scratch but you don't want to shell out for a new VST, then maybe go for a different vibe and layer a acoustic sound with a synth for something interesting?

You're going to need ProTools to do that song correctly.

Which will subsequently need to be rewired into Studio One.......... there's just no other way getting around this insurmountable task.

Nose to the grind and you'll probably get there just around the time we hit 450 PPM of CO2.

Trilian plus someone reasonably/with good rhythm chops on a keyboard can get pretty close to that kind of sound

the guitar is just Bm, D, F#m, E

the bassline just follows the chords with an octave note thrown in for funk

Well The bass wouln't be too hard too emulate (although it would not sound perfectly standing alone). If you use something like the fretless bass and some thick analog bass behind that with deacy and sustain shorter than the fretless for extra "omph" (grouped ofc).
go throu amp on bass setting, glue compressor with light setings, eq 8 , glue compressor on normal settings , and a normal compressor sidechained to a kick and you got yourselves a decent bass.

Yes im a big fan of glue compressor

If you hide that behind something else i would say its doable, but it would require some time to do it

i would also suggest some overdrive just to get that "peaked" feeling, but thats just me

If you’re talking about dropping money on Trillian and then trying to emulate the feel with different layers and presets, you’d probably be better off on money and time spent if you just bought a bass guitar and played it yourself.
