Launchpad #2 revets to #1 when project is opened, any ideas?

Post by COSM » Wed May 15, 2013 9:12 pm

Hey,

I've created a project where 2 Launchpads in User 2 mode do different things all over the set. In my control surface drop down I simply get "Launchpad" and "Launchpad" for a start, which can get slightly confusing... but I can manage figuring out which is #2 by selecting the second option.

My problem is once I have everything set up how I want, and re-open the set... everything that was originally assigned to #2 reverts back to #1 and I have to set it all up again which takes a lot of time.

In the Control Surface Chooser api it has the SaveString api but it seems to come from the NAME in the dropdown, which I am wondering is the reason, as they are both identified as just Launchpad.

I guess I'm asking if anyone has any solution to this, is it perhaps possible to change the SaveString to some sort of ID value attached to the individual launchpads rather than the name.

As I'm new at this, figuring out how to make that change is going to take me a lot of time and I'd like to feed it through here to see if that's the solution before I put effort into it.

Here's a small example of one of the patches I'm having trouble with. I have this patch 16 times, on 16 different tracks, to record midi information into a specific clip with a 3 button record, play, delete set up... works great for the first 8, but the second 8 :(

Ha ! I didn't take a look to your patch, but i'm 99% sure.
i've had this problem for years...there is no solution...i've been in contact with novation and cycling74. Novation is to blame.
The new launchpads have now a 'personal' ID.
Im not using the LPs the normal ways, so if find a way to 'solve' the problem i had (led feedbacks were mixed up), but that wouldn't help you i'm afraid.

Damn I was hoping someone wouldn't say that.. seems to be the case after trawling the internet.

Do you know if button IDs are different for each launchpad?

I might as well flag my idea of putting out my new Megaset publicly for two launchpads, however it's still how I would like to personally perform so I am hoping I can just used fixed IDs for my particular template and they will at least remain the same each gig I play.

I guess it's a good opportunity for me to figure out how to do a page like system on just one Launchpad. More work... woohoo!

I don't use M4L, but would suggest that you try duplicating the Launchpad folder (in MIDI Remote Scripts) and giving the duplicate folder a different name like "Launchpad2". It's not the most elegant approach, but should solve the issue with minimal effort.

i'm not sure this would solve the problem. There is no way to tell which is which anyway.
