I think i called it tech house as it's not quite techno and not quite house

The idea of the long breakdown was to bring in the individual parts, which start at different stages in the bar. I'd slowed the tempo down to almost half speed as well and brought it back up to 127 bpm or so. The diea was that the listener imagines where the bar should start, but has the wrong place so there's a suprise when it kicks back in. Not sure if it worked that way or not.
I like your idea of shorter break downs and i will probably give that a go.

pretty funky beat. Id say make it like 4-5m long and add a new part and switch up your drums a bit and add some breaks. Like when your sweeps come in that could lead to a new part in your song
