itunes 11 and flac
Re: itunes 11 and flac
Natively iTunes won't support FLAC, you can use one of these tools to add FLAC support to iTunes: http://ipod.about.com/od/advanceditunes ... Itunes.htm or alternatively you can convert the files to Apple lossless.

*sigh*
It's the kind of thing that would make me ditch Itunes altogether, except that I would have to re-do all my libraries.

plays pretty much any file format. plays itunes libraries, shows their artwork etc.
very cool little player. 10.7 and up only, though.

Because I don't want to have to convert file format all the time. Wavs are too big; MP3s don't have the quality, and most websites don't provide apple lossless.cids wrote:Why?

^ that's their strategy. they make it so easy to buy music... by the time you realize the level of suck you have achieved, it's too late... so you upgrade to iTunes X.X in the hopes that it will get better but it just gets more confusing.
i miss MusicMatch Jukebox.

Re: itunes 11 and flac
FLAC is not supported in iTunes because of the record companies... don't blame Apple...

I always thought Apple was a record company...

Itunes is horrible, the sooner you cut the cord the better.

Re: itunes 11 and flac
I too would encourage you not to support itunes.
The flac thing pisses me off.
Not to mention it's just BLOATED.
And "don't blame apple it's the record companies" well...
are they keeping Apple from flac support on ipods too?
It's a RACKET you see.
If you really can't ween yourself from it for (whatever reason)
you could use Audirvana.
It will allow you to use the itunes interface and it will play any file type in any resolution.
Awesome.

Re: itunes 11 and flac
Why would I spend 59 euros just to have FLAC support... XLD converts all the FLAC files into Apple Lossless so I can still use iTunes...

Re: itunes 11 and flac
What's the best alternative?
I would like a music player that:
- Can sync to my ipod
- Works on both PC and Mac
- Is simple and not overloaded with features
- can play all the standard audio formats (mp3, wav, aiff, acc, flac...)

Itunes is the only player that sync with the Ipod and they made sure of that but you can try Winamp. The Finn wrote:What's the best alternative?
