i broke my ableton live 9!
hi all,
while reading the manual I broke my version of live 9.
i am getting no sound.
The master volume is now blue and there in a little red square within the thrack yellow squre.
anyway, bottom line i broke my software. any advice for the village idiot?

Condolences, man. This is a known issue.
You'll have to reformat your hard drive.
edit: just kidding. You mean the VU meter in the MASTER channel is blue? Not just a regular channel? If it's just a regular channel, then you have the "Audio To" set to "Sends Only." If it's the master channel, then that's something else.

when in doubt, close Live, start it again while holding down SHIFT and you get a new set with default settings.

Isn't that typically caused by setting the I/O Output of the master channel to a soundcard that isn't hooked up? Or available? Or something?
I feel like I remember this if I set my master out to 3/4 on my NI Audio 2 DJ, and then later if I'm using that set without my NI A2DJ plugged in, it will be blue.
Check your IO settings, and make sure that the resource your are trying to output to is available perhaps (?)

Sounds like a routing issue. It can happen when switching from your soundcard to asio4all for example.
