DJ Pink Tu-Tu sounds great!

Best all-time DJ name, drumroll please...

DJ Vinyl Richie

He's a friend of mine who plays awesome music. (His real name is Richie)

I've played with a few 'interestingly' named djs: DJ Battlecat, DJ Albury Wodonga Shopping Plaza, DJ Bloodfart, DJ Hillside & MC Thick Passage.

I think the DJ bit is needed if you're just going to be playing records/a laptop/MPC and you don't want people looking at you. Take away the DJ if you want people to look at you/you're putting on a show.

Supa Greg

Heheh... yeah... I remember the Supa Greg stuff... had some funny video clips on the web in the late 90's. That was some hilarious shiat. That, along with some other web sites were done up by an ad agency and ended up having something to do with Lee Jeans.

Precious ??? only if you are truly "pretty" ( since for all Spanish speaking it associates with "precioso") and gay ( you say "preciosa" about woman, or objects but never straight man) , otherwise it might be misguiding. Even if you are gay then the Pink... sounds better.
I agree that adding that DJ thingy does not have anything hip about it, neither information, unless you really spin. Digital or Multimedia performer is "DP Pink tutu" ???? If you are in UK or India "MP Pink Tutu " might be very very confusing.

DJs I admire...

DJ Carl Cox... or is it just Carl Cox?

DJ Trevor Nelson... or is it just Trevor Nelson?

DJ Pete Tong... or is it just Pete Tong?

Why aren't they DJ So-and-so? Because they're talented enough to not need it.

If you're good enough, just use what's on your birth certificate!

Context is critical. Any name ca be good or bad depending on the (associated) conotaions behind it. Depends on where (and when) you are.

Use your real name if you can, but if your name sounds stupid get a pen name that sounds unique but simular to your real name, so that you actually might respond to it, and wont become annoyed at the people using it. Remember if u get famous people will be like "hey mr. Smashdeck, can I have your autograph?". "Mr. Smashdeck, would you like a flask for your tequilia, or are you just gonna keep drinking it out of the bottle?" "Mr. Smashdeck can we go over the contract specifics one more time, are you really sure you need first class airfair?"

Good - Francis Washington Bad - Harry Mason

Good - Michael Cunningham Bad - Mich from Burbank.

Good - Klaus Untervasherinbringunthaund Bad - DJ Killer

Good - Darren Emmerson Bad - Sasha

Good - Lizard Joe Bad - DJ Shadow/spooky/icey/chocolaty

Hey buzzcock,
I like it - DJ Context. Younger brother of DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid ? :) My DJ name going on first pet/streetname would be DJ Shona Magdalen. Sounds more like a nun fom the Outer Hebrides.

I can't think of any really bad DJ names because they're instantly forgettable. If you're a Live DJ you should maybe consider using "DJ" "1st pet" "Name of random Ableton employee"... such as...

DJ Fido Henke
DJ Patch Winkler
DJ Fluffy Kaiser

:)
MacBook Pro Retina, Live 9.5, Reason, UC33, KRK RP5s, Teenage Engineering OP1, Korg ESX2, Korg Prophecy, Clavia Nord Lead, Bass, Guitars.
