How can I see the chord I'm playing in Ableton like in Logic

Post by I Am Legend » Sat Jun 29, 2013 3:00 am

I've just made the switch from Logic to Ableton..... I'm literally blown away and want to slap myself right now for not switching earlier. It's so much better with MIDI and the workflow is sick!

There's only one thing I miss from Logic.. when I played a chord in Logic, it would tell me which chord I was playing (i.e. I'd play a Gmaj7 on my midi keyboard and it'd say Gmaj7 at the bottom) of the screen.

Is there a function or setting or plugin or anything in Ableton that could do the same thing? So when I play a chord it'll tell me which chord I'm playing.

Thanks!

Is this site down for anyone else? I've been trying to grab this all weekend with no luck.

Ableton better than Logic for MIDI? How so? Abletons MIDI is behind a lot of the other DAW's on the market but it has other stuff it's better at than others as well. Multi-instrument editing like in Studio One V2 - ableton? NOPE....at least not as far as I have seen compared to S1V2.

well, 'better' is obviously highly subjective, but personally I think in terms of speed and ease of making MIDI patterns. Logic is more advanced with more options, but I don't think that makes it quicker to do things usually.

Abelton is weaker with MIDI but its also done differently and thats why i think people interpret it to easier like basic things like CMD D to double a pattern with Abelton seems easier as in Logic you need think different ( you use the repeat command) to repeat a pattern, if you learn all the Logic key commands in Logic i think its way better with MIDI it just takes more time to learn because it does more

i will always use both as they both have strengths and weaknesses

Sick!!
Thank you. Is there any way to use this vst in same midi track with free vst Piano One?

Edit: Instrument rack :-)

I'm sooo glad that I move from Cubase 6 to Ableton. Yes, Ableton is buggy as Hell but workflow is AMAZIN. PERIOD.
