You've already posted my all time faves:

• Bahamadia
• Ladybug Mecca
• Jean Grae

...all of whom slay 95% of ALL mcs, male or female.

Might also put a word in for Heather B and Yarah Bravo, too.

MC Lyte for her time was great. Definitely needs to be on the top of the list.
Da Brat was also nice.
Missy Elliot had a real unique flow.
Nikki now is better than many other modern mainstream artists male or female. Her style is kind of like a mix of Lil Wayne, Lil Kim, and Missy Elliot.

Funk N. Furter wrote:H2, if females do get into the gangsta thing, the blame lies fair a square with male dominated society, which exists in all countries, America is certainly no exception. Not only male dominated but a highly racist country for 200 years. If you squashed American racism into a 15 year period it would make the Nazis look like Boy Scouts on Bob a job week.
and... if you squashed British racism into a 15 year period the 14th year would spawn the birth of "America".

i'm sorry but what does racism have to do with it besides the fact that the crutch has now become a kickstand? if you want to point fingers don't forget to walk outside and take a good look around.

back OT it's not about the gansta thing as much as it is about a self loathing and self annihilation thing.
Q: if my life revolves around booze and violence why should i be surprised about the repercussions?
A: because i was too naive (and probably angry) to realize what I was getting myself into.

that's the constant dilemma that people find them selves in various stages of growth concerning. rappers, female or male, are first and foremost people. they grow and experience things just like you and I. the fact that they have more lyrics in one song than most other music delivers in an entire album is both a strength and a weakness.

if you care to discuss rap and the culture that surrounds it, by all means, please respond... if your sole purpose in this thread was for more America bashing (essentially racism) then please just leave it to myrnova. one is enough. i don't care to participate in that brand of racism. i've had to deal with it my whole life. the last place i need it is in text... on a music forum. ffs.

memes, i just wanted to check back here and say thanks for this... i've really been enjoying her stuff. so different but filled with so much familiarity at the same time.

i've already purchased two of her EPs... which, by the way, i also think is clever... since her stuff shows up at 4.99 or 4.95 on iTunes it's easy to just grab it since it's still more economical than buying a track, but also easier to throw down on without too much thought than the price of a full length album.

No Duh is my favorite cut. 8)
