Live 9.0.1 Suite takes long to load and too long to save!

Turn off your VST folder on your preferensed and see if that's the culprit.

It Is off already! Saving is stuck 55% and it has been like that for 15 min!

Please tell me you are not using the MBP 5200RPM drive.

My Saves don't take THAT long, but it does seem like Live 9 takes longer to save compared to 8. I thought it was just because I was working on a huge project with dozens of tracks, but it's happening even in smaller ones. There's like a 3-4 pause while it saves, and this is with a rMBP with SSD.

Are your "Energy Saving" modes disabled?

I am experiencing the same delay times compared to 8.
On average a extra 30-60 seconds in save/load times.

I have experienced long save times to when I have lots of samples/tracking data.
It is my speculation that your save session times is attributed to not only the lengh and number of the samples, but the samples are the loaded to ram + streaming from disk, and the samples that have WARP enabled (which most do by default. It is consolidating all the samples/recording tracks you have in your ableton live sess. I especially noticed longer save times when loading a bunch of instruments into drum rack (50+) as well as un consolidated recording tracks.

In Pro Tools all audio and sample track "Regions" have its own seperate container, making saves super fast. Since Ableton does not have a "Regions" container, it rescans and resaves all of your samples to your designated Ableton project folder(s). Again, this is my speculation.

Close Ableton Live. Find {user}\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 9.0.4\Database\files.db

Find files.db - notate file size and report it here -

Delete files.db

Restart PC then boot Ableton.

Hi miekwave. Thanks for your concern.

I've had to enable 'show hidden files and folders' in order to view AppData.

In The Database Folder I have:

files = 682,243 KB
files.db-shm = 320 KB
files.db-wal = 41,384 KB

I'm working on a Track, so I'll have to get back to you about deleting and restarting the computer.

Should I delete all three files listed above (files, files.db-shm, files.db-wal)?

After restarting my Laptop and deleting all three files, I restarted Ableton:

Mesage: 'Setting up Core Library...'

File sizes are now as follows:

files = 1 KB
files.db-shm = 224 KB
files.db-wal = 25,373 KB

Quite a difference (see previous post for original values).

I'll see how Ableton behaves later on during the day.
