I have seen a couple of threads with people having similar problems. Basically a lot of plugins are making it crash. Like others, I am unable to load up a set if it contained any plugins, particularly waves and the CS80 virtual instrument. On my G4 powerbook I don't have the problem with the CS80, I don't use waves plugins on that machine, and it's much more stable.
Also I'm getting lots of very strange sounds that almost resemble little pops and whistles when I warp audio in complex mode. On my powerbook it doesn't do this at all.
Another thing to note is that the warping sounds different on loops made on 4 and played back on 5..sometimes this is irritating, since I love to make loops that have tight timings, and these need to be re-tweaked when using 5.
Our system is a G5 dual 2.5ghz with 2gig ram, with the latest version of panther and using the digidesign 002 rack - I'm not using protools as a master, I always write in ableton. Also, I'm using Tiger v10.4.2 on my g5 powerbook. I didn't put tiger on the G5 just yet, since until recently Tiger didn't support Pro Tools LE.
At a guess, I think it could be the 002 rack that's not quite happy with version 5. I noticed when I had an earlier version of ableton 4 that it also was very unstable, but the last version worked perfectly. I'd greatly appreciate your help!
Other than that, I think we can all agree that Live is absolutely fantastic, and it has been the biggest revolution to the way I make music since 1990!
Thanks and hats off!
