Sure 102455 gave a smart ass response, though it was informative.
It's not like it was "RTFM NOOB", but it also wasn't a "nice helpful answer".

If we're playing judge here then they're both guilty, just the reaction to the smart ass response is overboard imo, but I can understand that someone gets tired of smart ass responses and letting off some steam.

Anyway whatever this is petty you got some answers

I think there's a bottom line here..
this forum has gone to shit.. there is nothing more to learn here.
only stupid questions with stupid answers.. and you might get insulted while just trying to help.
this is just a sample
Ableton user base is so big now that there are so many noobs and assholes around..
used to be a place for learning.. but there's nothing more to see here.
no interesting posts. only noobs with rants/silly questions...

I only come here as a force of habit at this point.. but that's gonna stop.
honestly this place is not anywhere as good as it used to be
I couldnt have said it better.
The noobs, the rediculous questions, no more insightful and educating post from experienced producers, coming here as force of habbit, Alot of us do need to move on dont we? :?
The problem is what forum to go to next. Gearslutz seems like people stuck in the guitar, bass, drums era of tech& kvr seems overly moderated... sound on sound seems lacking in any form of comedy.

I can't seem to solve. I make my track, happy with the mix. The master channel volume is as high as it can go without clipping. I save and export my song. My problem is this-

My songs are NEVER loud enough!!!! When I compare them so a pro recording, or something from iTunes- my
Song is quieter, and its driving me nuts.

Help!

It could be a number of things.

1. No Limiter on master track.
2. Not enough compression/limiting/level automation on individual tracks.
3. Too much bass in mix.
4. Muddy mix.
5. Mix doesn't translate well on all systems.

A lot of that takes a while to learn and master.

IMO loudness is the easy part (cough limiter).

The hard part is getting a mix that is both loud and pleasing to listen to.

Yeah, I been there. Somehow, when you mix in ableton and hear the master, let's say, the volume is 5/10. However, when you export, even if you dont move any volume control in your interface or computer, the file volume is 3/10. I still don't know why that happens.

but i do know that when you are listening to that 5/10 mix in ableton and sounds good, try listening something at soundcloud.com or itunes with full volume: those are 10/10.

so I discovered what mastering is, and after a couple of months an a couple of dollars spent on software (bleh, ozone 5), i export my 5/10 ableton mix to a 3/10 .wav file (still don't know why that happens) and then i TRY to master it on ozone 5. I can get easily a 10/10 in volume, and I think I don't suck THAT MUCH (I know about loudness wars and blahblah).

I don't have the money to master my tracks and my friend's hip-hop tracks elsewhere, and I don't care. I'm more focused on composing anyway and in my country music is rubbish so I sound good compared to them anyway.

I feel ya. There's really nowhere else to go. All the forums you listed and the opinions of them are spot on. I tried Future Producers once and all it is a bunch of desperate, phony wannabe gangsters who literally type in pseudo-hood slang and know absolutely nothing about producing except that "Maschine is dope cuz it's like a MPC and that's what Jay-Z be using yo."

NI forums are alright except that the moderators are super douchey and have a god complex. They're always yelling at people for saying things they don't like and banning everyone. What good is a forum if you can't express your opinion?
IDK, I'll probably stay here and hope it gets better. IDMF is ok.
