I have a project I am working on...a show I want to put together featuring well known musicians who are also accomplished visual artists (painting, photography etc) I just realized that there is a whole community here who may collectively know of some of these multi talented individuals.
The show would be primarily a visual art exhibition + maybe a the opportunity of a concert featuring some of these people...though the primary interest is the visual art.
I have the financial backing of the local city council and great venues...so, any suggestions/ideas?
Oh, and the event would be in Australia...possibly touring several cities but initially in one place. I can financially support international artists so it doesn't matter where they come from.
Cheers!

Thanks for the support rakim87! I am talking global when it comes to musicians who are also visual artists (painters, photographers etc) I have been doing some research and besides the obvious VERY big names like Ronnie Wood and David Bowie there others who have a surprising pedigree in the visual arts who might be more accessible...like Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth); Patti Smith..and Nick Cave. I already have a couple of globally known Australian Artists interested.
I just wanted to expand the list of 'reasonably accessible' internationally known musicians/artists because I need to get at least two...maybe three internationals to make the show big enough to fit in with our city's annual arts festival.
Anyway, if anyone has some other info/ideas...feel free to post

Is there a specific kind of visual art? Photography, painting, art videos?
Also, could you post a link showing us information on the event?
I could browse around and find artists if you're serious.

All of those categories are relevant. And I don't have anything up on line yet as this is still in the 'conceptualisation' stage...have already got the city council support (I know the Mayor) for an event like this (the city has set aside money in their budget for this kind of thing)...plus I have some resources if necessary. We have a couple of superb venues available as the city owns them and they are often offered as 'support in kind' for free for these kind of events which attract tourists.
Anyway, I am just looking at assembling a list of names to throw around with the relevant stakeholders (council, sponsors etc) and to design a coherent show. It's all very exciting but it is a bit scary because it has grown from a small idea to a big one!

I love the idea and have looked into some similar possibilities myself.
What city are you thinking of running this in earthloop? I'm based in Melbourne and I know of several musicians/producers who are also amazing graphic/visual artists. Genres can vary from electronic to metal and visual art styles vary just as diversely. Are you thinking of sticking to a certain theme/genre for the music and visuals? Are you thinking of linking in live performance (either music or visuals) with the event, or would it be more of an art exhibition with some of the related artists audio playing in the area? I know of a couple of visual artists that perform live if you're thinking of going down that track.
Great thinking earthloop, hope to see it all pan out successfully and hopefully pave the way for more events of this nature!
