What I'd like to know is why the fuck are people still buying vinyl in the first place.

OP,why don't you like the Daft Punk album? Didn't quite catch that.

My opinion is that the album is awesome. It's different from the previous, just like it should be. They're not the same age as they were when they made the last one, which means they grew, threfore made something that matched their mentality. Props to them.

I agree that Daft Punk has changed, and to me personally, their new album is not something I would go out and buy. But considering the massive amount of media attention and new fans they've got, they must had done something right! 8) Old fans were disappointed though, and it still pisses me off, when new fans act like they was there from the start, ever since Daft 'stole that song from Kanye'.. Jeez

That song, Fragments of Time, does sound like it was written for Michael McDonald.

+1, well said  Its beautifully recorded, has some nice moments, but doesn't really inspire me. I don't hate it, I just don't dig it so much. I like the "Steely Dan disco album" comparison others have stated as well.

Listened to a recent interview with Maynard from Tool and in a passing comment response to Tool fans who were upset about his less metal and recent side projects “Yeah, like I’m not 49 (years old)”.

Have to respect an established artist who feels they’re too old for that shit and/or wants to try different things, although a new Tool album is possibly in the works. I guess it’s a little more of a mental hurdle to apply the same thing to Electronica…which I guess is more timeless and artists shouldn’t go too far off their popular path.

I love when artists go off and pursue other projects. The key word here is OTHER. If you make a new album(a) that in no way resembles earlier works you are both deceiving your fanbase and piking off the established name for easy promo. Plenty of established artists have had the decency to recognize this in the past, it's a matter of principal.

Just as bad is artists who use their production name to do a live show….which turns out to be them DJing. FUCK THEM! :x

True story, I was filling in guitar for a friends band last weekend and then the drummer said the singer couldn't make it, so just when the other guitarist was asking if there was a replacement, Farell walked in going "tadaaa"
Collective facepalm.

Colin Farell?

did you have a mic stand that would go that low or did you have to use a cymbal stand with the mic dangling above him?
