Sustain Pedal Polarity

Post by koranek » Thu Mar 28, 2013 4:23 am

Is there a way to change the polarity of my sustain pedal that's plugged into Push? It works correctly in my Novation Impulse, but it's reversed when plugged into Push (pressing down turns off sustain, letting up keeps it on).

The sustain pedal has no hardware switches to do this. I was wondering if there was a preference or Push option to accomplish this.

And Push is cool.

Actually, since I decided I needed a sustain pedal for both my keyboard controller and for Push, I bought another sustain pedal. Instead of trying to figure out which ones were the right polarity (yamaha vs korg vs roland vs casio vs etc etc) I bought one of the M-audio ones with the polarity switch. Works fine, but I would prefer one with just a little lighter touch.

It still seems reasonable for this to be a configuration setting instead of just a hardware issue.

I have a fix, but it requires Max For Live.

My sustain pedal Yamaha FC5 is reversed with Push also. Very annoying... Many keyboards detect the pedal polarity when you switch on (sustain off is the signal reaching the keyboard while initializing).

Ableton might consider this for the next firmware upgrade of Push.

I've found this video to invert the signal of my Yamaha FC5. With some testing it works:

No wait hold up I'm not gonna use a Max4Live device on each track to solve this issue! This is pretty fundamental.. what's the real solution?

I'm dealing with the same issue for my sustain pedal on the Push... you think there would be a simple fix, no?
