I have been using a fast track pro for at least 6 years.
I want to get my sound quality as good as possible.
I feel like my current setup could use a bump up.

Can you recommend some interfaces below $400?
- I dont need to record much from external sources.
I need 2 inputs, and 2-4 outputs.
I need dedicated monitoring. meaning independent volume levels and knobs for headphones.
I looked at the focusrite and komplete audio 6 models so far.
I want that warm sound!
I would appreciate your help.

Komplete Audio 6 is my road interface. It's built like a tank, awesome converters, and good preamps.

I have the focusrite scarlett 2i2, and it works fine with me. Two in, two out, one knob for both monitors and headphones. Would definitively recommend focusrite in any case, its very good quality

i use komplete audio 6.
it is ok in asio but if use it in windows mode there are clicks and hiss and pops.
Support tells me this is because USB3 - this card does not support USB3.
so if you only have modern USB3 ports on laptop like I do this can be an issue.

funny ... KA6 was doing the exact same thing well before we had USB3 ... NI support had other excuses back then.
If you're using a Win7 system with only USB3 ports: uninstall USB3 drivers, reboot. Win7 will boot with generic USB2 drivers and ports will function as normal USB2.

I hace bien researching tris for a while. And it seems the Roland line has the best drivers what is what matters the most in this price range.
