crackling sounds

Post by etruscan » Fri Sep 13, 2013 6:24 pm

I'm getting crackling noises and I think it's coming from my computer. I've downloaded updated drivers for the computer and downloaded updated driver for my Scarlett 2i4. Can anybody offer any suggestions? Thank you.

It means your computer is working to hard, displayed by the top right percentage sign in the top right corner.

An easy fix is going to preferences -> Audio -> buffer size...Increase the buffer size until it stops popping. (note the bigger the buffer size the more latency you will get will while recording.

Another to decrease CPU usage is by right clicking on midi tracks or tracks with multiple plug ins and selecting "freeze track".
(Once a track is frozen no changes can be made unless unfrozen)

Hope this helps!

Thanks Johnny but my cpu load is low. My levels are also good. I sometimes, but not often hear it even outside of Live program.

Oh okay then live definitely doesn't have anything to do it with it. Adding more ram to your computer may help that.

Mac/PC? Operating system?

Have you run a latency checker?
