Re: Time Stamps on All SMS Messages in iOS 7
A friend of mine has been test driving the online dating circuit. If you think “a friend” is actually me, that’s OK. I don’t think it’s something to be embarrassed about. I just think it’s a lot of effort for little reward.
Anyhow, a couple of the women he was talking to cut him off because he didn’t respond to texts in what they felt was a timely manner. These weren’t even time sensitive texts like “Dinner tonight?”. They were mundane like “How’s your day going?”. FFS. As if women weren’t needy before, tech has now dialed that up by like 30 notches.

i just like having the time stamp for those scenarios that go something like this:
starting the original text a say... 7 pm
girl: what's up
me (minutes later): chillin you?
girl: just got outta the shower
me: (minutes later) ooh la la
girl: what are you doing tonight?
me: (minutes later) was about to run by the store for tasty beverages
girl: can i still stop by?
me: (minutes later) oh yeah
girl: will you grab me some wine when you go?
me: you got it
girl: ok be there is 15 minutes. :*
i read the very last text after my neighbor starts asking me some computer question or wants to show me his new hairless Chihuahua ... what ever... so..
when the fuck is 15 minutes? if my phone wasn't in my hand because any reason, how long do i have to get to the store and buy beer & wine... 1 minute? 12 minutes? who fuckin knows... thanks Apple. clean design!
the crazy part is... now that iOS7 has finally allowed me the courtesy of knowing when a text message beyond the first one was sent... EVERY fucking text as far back as the logs go show the time... so the phone has been keeping track all along, but keeping it secret.

Re: Time Stamps on All SMS Messages in iOS 7
My iMessages have been screwed all week (receiving but not sending). Apparently it's a bug and they'll be rolling a fix out soon.
There is something... weird about the new Messages UI. It's not just that it's different from before - I can't quite put my... finger on it :>
They seem to have eschewed shininess on the bubbles for 'physics' as if the messages are all hanging off a semi-taut spring.
And the way the blue background on messages fades as you go up the screen for no particular reason - gah. For a company that jerk themselves off on design they really have a long way to go.
edit: oh yeah and the 'sending message' animation is awkward and the status bar is too thin.

^ there's an option to send messages as SMS when iMessage fails in Settings. that might help, if you don't already have it turned on.
Re: Time Stamps on All SMS Messages in iOS 7
You can actually do it from within the conversation by holding down on the message - but there is a workaround for this particular bug where you reset all your network settings. Purges all the wifi passwords though :{(

Meh, it's a nice feature.

@ rozling i just found out that my phone has been failing at sending iMessages too. so have the phones of a couple of the ladies that work in my office. it's hard to tell. between the three of us it's on iPhone 4, 4S, and 5 so definitely looks like iOS 7 is to blame.
lame.
back on topic... i'm looking at the bright side here... at least i can finally tell what time that message failed
