I'm guessing this isn't possible yet but thought I would check.
When you make custom mappings for 3rd party VST instruments can you change the name of Bank 1, Bank2 etc to things like Mixer, Osc1, Filter 1 etc?

Another thought I had that would be useful but I think is also not possible...
Leaving spaces or "dummy" spots in control parameter assignments. Lets say I'm mapping a fairly simple synthesizer. Maybe it only has 5 controls for OSC1. It would be nice to map only those 5 parameters to Bank 1 and leave the last 3 knobs blank. Then bank 2 do the same for OSC2 etc. It would just make a lot more sense for organizing controls to their "own" pages.

I love the dummy spot idea... Especially for VST learning. I have been slotting in unneeded controls just to keep things in groups of 4/8cyclicAMP wrote:Yes, that would be super helpful in organizing.

Totally agree. I just posted this on the Beta forum, and the Give Feedback area, which is basically what you are suggesting:
When configuring a VST, currently it simply places each parameter in banks of 8, in the order that you've selected them. I want to organize these banks: name them, have less than 8 parameters per bank if I so choose. I want to rename the parameters too - just like Macro Racks. I think this is vital, and here is why:
I want to sit back with Push, load up my favourite pre-configured VST , which has been organized as above, and shape my own presets, as you'd do on an analogue hardware synth. Why be limited to a rack with only 8 knobs? Being limited can be good in almost most cases, but in the case of sound design, it sucks. Currently, you have to build something with the mouse and keyboard, and then either rack it up to 8 knobs, or sit with a total mess of 8 banks of parameters.
Maybe the whole organization can happen in a dedicated window pane within Ableton's interface, where you can drag and drop parameters about amongst banks and rename them. Then you can once again leave the mouse and keyboard behind and tweak away on Push. And then when you've dialed in a sound you like, choose "Save Ultra-Rack". Or Mega-Rack, whatever.
I see no reason whatsoever why this should not be implemented. I know Push is designed primarily as a performance and production tool, to focus on writing music first and foremost, but it can be equally as awesome at creating sounds to perform with.
