 8O

I was going to make a parody post of the 'instructions' you were following and it was going to read pretty much like that post.

textbook hubris.

yeah, and I fear his pride would prevent him from doing so, especially after this forum gets done with him.

some people's frugality makes them do very strange things.

sorry for nay saying, I love audioshit. please do seek out some actual instructions.

Not necessarily.

Look, Fjettolf, people are being a little harsh, but I think what they say is true.

And you seem to be ignoring their advice, which on the interweb often causes people to get irritated and angry.

I tend to think that most of the comments here are absolutely right. I think anyone who thinks they can self-build a transparent nearfield monitor is fooling themselves.

But I also think you can have a lot of fun trying.

Whatever you build will most likely fall far short of the minimum specs for a good quality monitor. Most likely you won't save that much money in the long run.

But you will learn a lot.

So I think you should go out there and build it. But I would suggest: don't approach it has a money saving excercise, but more as a learning process. From that point of view it is valuable.

[quote="fjettolf"]Any suggestions here? Am i stupid? :| 8O quote]

Im not usualy so blunt but yes you are.

I would of said no at first but after seeing your insistence to disregard very good advice by pretty much everyone this forum, you managed to change my mind.

Have fun building you cheap speakers that wont be monitors at all. If you wanted to save money you should of been cheap hifi speakers at wallmart or a flea market for 20$ and bought an amplifier. You might end with something of a similar quality.

ok, I realized that there exists some sick speakers out there. So then I changed my mind. What I'm going to make is a couple of ok speakers. I really appreciate your links leading to relevant pages. But it is overkill.

sorry for my sarcastic comments. the world would be a better place if sarcastic people were exterminated. but that's how it is on the internet

what's your budget?

I gotta ask though... with all your confidence and positive attitude to making GREAT monitors, what do you think is a way things could go wrong?

According to this post you have $560 to spend on monitors.....so why not just buy some ready made ones? Make a decent investment and you won't regret it.
