PLus I can't find a single mention of it on the Steinberg site for my UR22 and my FW410 was abandoned at Lion and even the drivers they did do don't seem to allow my inputs to work. They work fine on windows under boot camp

Given in most of the ways I actually liked OSX it seem's to be going further and further away I think I'm going to sit this out.
I've tried Pro Tools 9 and it works, and I've heard 10 and 11 are working. I haven't thoughoughly tested 9 though, so do so at your own risk.

They say to wait, but it'll take them a long time to get an update out.

ableton says current stable version won't work "flawlessly" under mavericks.
well, it doesn't work "flawlessly" under mountain lion or 10.6/7 for that matter. there are bugs.

waiting for 9.1 is just as much a hassle as waiting to install 10.9 for the perks.
either way, we're seeing loads of success for 9.0.6 under 10.9.
able schmable... if your drivers/plugs work. do it 8)

Because no one else has mentioned it. This would apply mostly to those of us from the USA who watched the 08 elections.

Made me wonder if the people behind the name thought of this?

first time I upgrade OSX by impulse, and as expected.. troubles..

Ableton 9.0.6 or beta run fine for a while, then slowly I start hearing crackles until the point I have to restart the computer for this to get fixed (temporarily)
Recording audio works for about a minute also, then it sounds as if I had the buffer at 1 sample..

Not sure if this is Ableton or the Interface..

imac 3.5GHZ i7
8gb Ram
Komplete Audio 6 interface

then if we follow on in a kind of word association is the next one "OSX Heisenberg""?

That would actually be cool... naming it after Physicists I mean ;-)

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that I upgraded to Mavericks yesteday. I'm in the middle of the project. I'm on Live 9.06 (I guess this is most recent stable version).

Everything is working fine. I had crashes, but these are standard ones I get anyway. I even feel that Live9 is working better now, I mean faster - creating tracks is faster and so on. Overall I feel the new OS is more responsive and faster. Looks like these core improvements really work.

I even think that my firewire audio connection has improved. I use Focusrite Saffire, which is a legacy product I think it's not supported anymore.

Problems with audio got worse when I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion - when on heavy cpu load I get audio dropouts, pops and all that shit and when I switch to integrated audio soundcard everything works fine - I guess something went wrong with firewire driver when switching from Snow Leopard to Lion. But now after upgrade to Mavericks it seems to work better. I still get those dropout but in smaller degree I think.

Plugs seems to work ok too.

I will wait before up-dating till it is obvious that all bugs in any third party software I use is ironed out:

But this:
Jon Siracrus on ArsTechnica wrote: Memory compression is a triple play for Mavericks. It's a performance win; compressing and decompressing data in RAM is much faster than reading from and writing to disk, even an SSD. It's an energy win; the less time spent moving data between RAM and disk, the more time the system can spend in its idle state. And finally, it's a capability win; Mavericks can handle much more demanding workloads than previous versions of OS X before crying uncle.
Read here: http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/10/os-x-10-9/17/

Has gotten me very interested!
How is the RAM requirement of Live affected by this when using large sample libraries?
Could anyone that already made the jump, test this?

99.9% sure thats your interface. have you checked for proper updates to interface drivers, cuz your mac looks plenty fast enough.

Excuse my noobular question, but if I follow Ableton's advice, and install the 9.1 Beta on my new MBP with Mavericks, am I going to have to re-install once they go to release?

And I'm trying to understand, why would someone (like revoltcrew below) be suspicious of Ableton's advice, wouldn't Ableton be in the best position to know what is least likely to cause problems? Why would revoltcrew suggest it's a "hassle" to wait for 9.1, if the beta works now?

Thanks for any advice.
