I use both the DT-770 and the Sony MDR-7506 headphones. Both very comfortable and fantastic for lazy, couch-potato music production

Well, since I am a lazy, couch potato music producer, I am very happy with my choice

I make all my best stuff on the couch. Being in a studio, sitting up straight just makes everything feel too serious and I end up psyching myself outThe Finn wrote:Well, since I am a lazy, couch potato music producer, I am very happy with my choice

I have the Koss PortaPros, Grado 80s, and Sennheiser HD-600s, and I think they are all the best cans by far in their respective price ranges.
The PortaPros sound like $100 for less than half that. Koss will repair them for life for $9 (I've done this twice now). They are not flat enough for mixing but are great for listening.
The Grados are several steps up from the Koss. They have a beautiful warm full sound with plenty (but not too much) low end. They are not at all flat, but they are $100 cans that sound better than most at 2 - 3 times the price. Grado will repair them for free. Both the Grados and Koss are kinda retro funky looking and basic but have very comfortable on-ear pads.
The Sennheiser HD-600 are the most comfortable for me (they go around the ears) and the sound is amazing fantastic detailed precise - of course the price is like 5x more than the Grados. I went with the 600s rather than the 650 because I wanted the flattest response for mixing and the 650s have some bass boost.

Yes I too mainly use Sennheiser HD600s, which I chose over the 650s, as I hear the latter's bass response was exaggerated a little bit (but very nice sounding). The 600s are worth every penny - I will probably never have to buy another set of headphones again. Well not for a very long time. I used to use the 280s, which some say has excellent bass response. I found them to be very lacking in that dept, although the clarity was very good.
Hmm forgot to mention that the HD600's are open backed. So very bad idea to use on a plane, on public transport etc.
I probably will buy another set of headphones
