Post by whatisvalis » Fri Nov 01, 2013 11:01 pm

As the title reads, anyone using NativeKontrol PXT and Windows 7. How does it run?

What virtual MIDI ports are you using?

Thanks.

No problems running PXT on Windows 7 64-bit here.

Using Ableton Push Port 2 (aka User Port) in Live Preferences.
Runs fine alongside the default Push Scripts.

You thinking of getting it or having problems yourself?

Thinking of rolling back to Win 7 (from Eight). Currently getting BSOD after introducing PXT-General into my set-up. With Driver Verifier active LoopMIDI seems to be the first culprit(Tobias has an update in the works), it continuously crashes Win 8 even without PXT active. PXT also seems a little unstable on 8 causing a sys32k BS on close occasionally, although Stray is working on an update too.

For the sake of clarity, the OP is speaking specifically about PXT-General. PXT-Live doesn't use any virtual MIDI ports.

We haven't received any reports of issues like those reported by the OP during beta testing or since release on Windows 7 or Windows 8. At the moment, the OP's issue appears to be isolated to the system the OP is using. The OP is also having another issue with PXT-General (related to saving/recalling settings) that also appears to be an isolated case. However, we'll be providing an update to resolve that particular issue in the very near future and will continue trying to help with the BSOD issues though it's unclear what (if any) role PXT-General has in these issues.

I, or the OP, will post back in this thread once we get to the bottom of all of this.

I wouldn't voluntarily touch Win8 with a barge pole.

I use it at work and despise it, so much so that I prised out the Windows key from my keyboard.

This issue could definitely be system specific, so don't let my isolated problems put anyone off giving PXT General a go on Win8. It really is a terrific bit of software, can't wait to get it implemented with Cubase.

Seems Nvidia drivers were not playing nice with PXT. Rolling back to 306.97 allows me to close PXT without BS.

On LoopMIDI I was only having issues with Driver Verifier enabled.

It might be slightly OT, but Id recommend uninstalling their geforce experience utility if you have that installed as well (thing that runs in the tray and lets you manage game settings/updates/etc). I noticed that once I updated my drivers and that came with it, I would get random audio drops/freezes. I tried backing up revisions and nothing helped, until I just removed that whole utility, been fine ever since

I only ever install the driver and physx software, none of the other extra shit. Plus I disable the Audio device in devices.
