Max for Live Camel Space... mostly resolved

I paid a fair wack for this max for live and it has never redeemed itself to me really, so some serious free time one of the things I done is finally emulated camel space's gating, so simply a volume sequencer. (i have not found anything similar other than for midi)

Please I invite you to try it out and witness Max for Lives abysmal audio latency, I may as well learn to program VST's myself this thing is so bad.

i am at least slightly pleased with myself it works at all... but at the end of the day I want to make music and this is well.. unworkable, camel space is audio perfect

okay so i know it has only been a day or so but I really thought some people might be really interested in such a tool

a gate sequencer...(cos I couldn't find one)



Aware that all sorts of people frequent these forums, someone who might want to know what one of these is even for, essentially you often use it on very plain sounds to chop them up and give a groove.

This has a slider box thing, it has a storage coll and a therefore patch recall. I coded this deliberately raw, I cut out my personal chaff before presenting it, so I am sort of (hoping) someone will find it educational... if you are new to max it demonstrates:

A timer, a sequence storage in coll (and ui recall), and the sequenced adjusting of volume gain.

Your patch spits out an error message (don't forget to check the max window frequently), add a [+ 1] object right after [patcher clock] to get rid of it.

When I add that I don't notice any latency, but you have to deal with the clipping.

the click was intended, you pointed that out it is addressed with ~line just i was trying to test latency so had set the delay low

You're welcome. Even if you are very careful such things will happen quite often. A wrong data format here, a missing patchcord there, it's so easy to overlook seemingly most basic stuff. But you should consider yourself as lucky if it is something like that. When you spend like 10 hours on debugging an issue only to find out that something with your local max installation is messed up you would wish it was one of those little problems.

You don't get an error message when you press "nth 0 0" in the following patch? Sometimes the max window stops working on my setup, which is usually solved by restarting Live. If you permanently don't get the message I'd say it's about time for a clean installation of max...

actually i am not kidding really, that clock had "+0" in it, at some point I'd changed it wrong... I know exactly what you mean about when stuff gets big lol, I do spend quite some time organising things,


the reference error, it occurs when it has no match in the coll, so actually it is fine so long as there is a sequence in coll. It does not affect the latency and it is sort of what it should do so I am leaving it as acceptable. If there is no sequence, then one is not seen by the user anyway because it has not been drawn yet.


still, i was very happy with it being my issue and not max's, I had a sleepless tidy and implementation session to get it to the musically usefully point. If anyone is interested here it is:
