I've just started working with WaveDNA's LiquidRhythm and I really am impressed. So many different ways to create and mangle beats.
They also created a M4L plug that allows you to run LiquidRhythm in parallel to Live so that changes that you make in your Live clip or changes you make in LR instantly update the other. This makes it feel like LR is midi editor built into Live. It also comes stand alone or as a VST or AU, but for Live 9 and Max, the M4L plug is perfect.
They have a 30 day demo. You should really check it out now because I think they are going to have a Black Friday sale.
My opinion: working with LR makes me feel the way I did when I first tried Live.
