can you split pads in to seperate zones/midi channels?

Hi there.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way using M4L devices (or anything else) to break the 64 pads in to separate midi channel groups/zones.

What I would like to accomplish is to have different groups or rows trigger different synths/sounds/midi channels.

For instance...have 4 4x4 sections of pads...and have one controlling an operator instance...another controlling a sampler instance etc. So you can play two or more different instruments at the same time independently of each other.

Additional bonuses would be to have the 'scale' functionality work with the new zones. What would be even better...would be to be able to apply different scales to different zones! :)

I'm not sure if this can be done through the user mode...or through M4L or python scripting...

I don't mind figuring it out and coding it myself...just not sure where to start.

Thanks in advance for any input.
