Also lol at all the discussion of "art".. There are political statements in art, and art that is completely apolitical. The same holds true for both, there's a lot of bad art out there.

Music without vocals is beyond all that though.
It's poetry that gives music it's politics. Most poetry is nauseating. Probably why I don't pay much attention to lyrics.

That said, Holiday in Cambodia is a great mostly neutral political statement.

Yes.... true... For me what matters is whether I like what I make.

But when others like it too, that is sweetness squared. Then I feel that though I may be an island, there are some underwater connections linking me to the others

this misconception that art has any general truth needs to go away. (And a personal truth is no truth at all)

That old saying "No man is an island" is just naive nonsense. Everyone is an island. And what you decide to show me about your island, is not related much to what I decide to see!
