I hope they have a demo with built-in tutorials because that’s what sold me on Live back on version 5. I didn’t just buy it and then pop on the internet with “can’t wrap my head around it” posts.

Demo on there website?
Would be interesting to test against Live, however got other things to spend £300.
I've always stated they need a very good cross grade price and the above is not it.

I don’t really get this cross grade discount expectation for owning software made by a competitor. Does any other developer do that?

Also consider the years of development they put into it while making zero revenue. It’s not like they have a stockpile of cash to dip into from other products allowing them to deeply cut the price on some new product.

Well then, I stand corrected. I've never seen it or taken advantage of it.

Pay full price, bitches!

I've only ever seen banks and energy companies do that kinda shit. For a company to offer such underhand incentives, it would have to be run by a complete pack of knobs,

I thought anyone who mentioned a cross-grade discount was joking...

400 seems fair compared to other daws, not just suite, and also compared to the other 'highest' versions.
And no secret cryptic bs about dealing with the api /dreamy sigh

I still expect some limits that have me on the fence though, like I remember reading about how limited the routing may be...
Hope there's a demo.

Steinberg for one. There's still a page up on their site offering a crossgrade (in 2012) from Pro Tools to Cubase or Nuendo.

The devs of Finale and Sibelius both do it for each other's product.

The dev that makes DSP-Quattro did it for Peak users when Bias went under.

If the two companies have a gentlemans agreement between them regarding the relationship between Bitwig Studio and Ableton Live I think a crossgrade campaign to entice customers from one to the other might fracture that.

But who knows, perhaps there is only seething hatred between the two companies and we will see RRPs spiral down in a vicous price and feature war until Live pays you to use it, and Bitwig free updates are delivered daily by golden winged sex goddesses who will crouch and empathetically listen to the feature grievances of "producers" unhappy about the existence of latency.

We can only guess what the future may hold
