Good digital audio editor?

I am wondering about suggestions for good software for editing sound software (for wav editing, eq ing and mastering outside Live)

- I have a copy of Sony Soundforge for PC. After I had bought it, I was told that I have to buy a separate licence for Mac

- I have Audacity, but it is not adequate because of its approach to saving and exporting - as pointed out by zwolf here viewtopic.php?p=1585708#p1585708

Other suggestions would be welcome!

It's Mac only, but I think Triumph has a huge collection of features for the cost.

Thanks. The techradar review looks particularly interesting. I loved CoolEdit, and would love to use audition, but I just can't justify paying that price for the limited use I will make of it.

And Triumph looks really interesting. I actually used the previous version, Wave Editor for a while, and really liked it.

Very clean and fuss free. They got the waveform navigation down so I'm immediately sold.
Might be a little simplistic for you but definitely worth a look.

Triumph's workflow never clicked with me. It's got very cool concepts but I find the access to core editor functions to be kind of fussy.

I've been using DSP-Quattro since Bias went under.

Amadeus is nice as well. And it looks as if it has nicer navigation than ocen audio

Even though it is not really an Audio Editor, you could try Reaper. It has a very usable demo.

I am in the same boat with no Sound Forge license for my Mac.

Adobe Audition and Sound Forge and Wavelab tend to be the big boy Audio Editors.

Since this was bumped, my problem is that editors don't work very well from preferences/sample editor (wavasaur, oceanaudio) and it's frustrating to the point where I don't use them. I also tried "edison" and it was the crashiest crappiest of them all.

depending on how deep you want to go, Wavelab has an "Elements" version. Current version is 8 for $100 US. if you go with version 7, you can get it for less than $70.

I can totally see that, though for what it's worth it's a little easier in the latest versions. Still very different from what most people are used to though I wager. I'm hoping to do some "how to" videos for them soon to explain things a little better.
