Well, in L9 they brought some new buttons to the MIDI note dept, very weird ones IMO.
Quantise does not have a button, but 'Invert notes' does?
I often think "There must be a huge crowd of musicians who loves to invert and reverse notes so often that they need a button for it?"
I've never needed these functions so their inclusion puzzles me, and I've never even used "note legato" which is a reasonable midi function but surely ought to be contextual menu item. Duplicate loop is just the old Ctrl & D , but now as a button. Pretty weird IMO. Of course, the old "orig BPM" was deleted for this, which I did use!
So, who has really been using these weird buttons?
and I don't mean "Yeah, I think I can see the point of them", I mean: you actually use these functions so often that you need a button for it on the primary interface.
I assume that you are the people who Live 9 is for.

I totally agree with your statements. Quantize and velocity range would be much more useful.

Re: L9's midi note buttons
same here. i used the bpm in 8, which they ditched.
on rare occasions i'll use the tempo double/half buttons, but they were already there in 8.
dupe is a simple key command. the others i never touch.

I didn't know they existed. Please update your poll accordingly.

Re: L9's midi note buttons
The duplicate loop button is different than duplicate time or L8's duplicate loop. Duplicate time/Loop never worked properly in Live <9 in midi clips. The loop brace would not expand(double) to match the newly created time. It does w the duplicate loop button in L9 and the duplicate loop command was fixed. LOL, I guess push is good for getting certain functionality in Live. Note that "duplicate loop" is not midi/key mappable prob because push uses the api to get things done.
but i agree angstrom, been using Live since v 1.5 and never have i seen such sloppy implementation of features by ableton. Some ok ideas i suppose, but poor execution. Such a shame.
def would like that orig bpm control back. i did use it a bit
