Few seconds maximum even in massively large projects with 80+ tracks
Re: How long does saving a set take for you?
I think 2:40 is unacceptable. I don't know that more ram would help as my 8GB machine saves projects pretty fast.tkarmakid wrote: @Eyeknow - I see in your sig that you have 16Gb of ram, I only have 8. Maybe I should add more. Its nice to see that your running windows too though.
Still, I think 2:40 isn't exactly fast. It feels like forever when I'm trying to be productive.

Re: How long does saving a set take for you?
Way too long. Something a mess there.
I did a collect all and save on a project not long ago. This contained video and 40 tracks with NI and Omnisphere synths and dozens of WAV samples etc. Project folder size was 590MB after a collect all and save and that took about 30 seconds (didn't time it but it was "normal".
This was on a Win7 64 - Live 9.1 Release (not a beta).
I do find some things a tad slower here and there and I know they are probably refining the code for the new browser system to handle some of the monster libraries people have but over 2 minutes seems excessive.
- Does the HDD light tick away while you are saving constantly?
- Are you saving to internal or ext USB HDD?
- Have you run a comparison test with a new blank set to see if it is an issue with live or something in the sets?
- Have you tried to save the whole project to another location / hard drive?
- Have you done a collect all save?

Re: How long does saving a set take for you?
It often happens to me when I save a set for the first time. Live can hang for several minutes. Sometimes I hav ethe impression that if I turn to another app like Max then come back to Live, I can take control back on Live. But that may be a coincidence.

tkarmakid - as the people say, 2:40 is far too slow.
More RAM will not help you. AFAIK on your machine Live will in any case only address 4 meg of RAM
There must be something strange going on with the set-up of your machine.
Sorry if you have said this, I haven't re-read the whole thread - but have you contacted support?

... long shot (grasping at straws here) - have you tried re-setting Live?
https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/reset-live/
I have been browsing some of the old threads about problems while saving, and there are some cases where deleting preferences.cfg has done the trick
e.g. viewtopic.php?p=1140364#p1140364
As i said, long shot. If I were you I would contact support.

Live 9 64 bit windows 7:
saving a 2.5 gig (ram) set takes about 20 seconds
exporting a 5 minute song takes ages now in Live 9 - like maybe 5 minutes.
it used to zip through in Live 8
