Affordable high resolution displays are here. Mac has been retina for 1.5 years, high end PC:s are 2560 or 3200 horizontal pixels and now almost affordable 4K displays are here like the one below:

Means nothing here in LIveLand... Ableton isn't even Retina yet...

Retina is an Apple Buzzword. They are all the same thing, bringing compability to higher resolutions and probably 4K and retina compability problems have the same solution.

i use Airplay to mirror my iMac desktop to my Apple TV connected to my 47" Television via HDMI...
at that size, i can't imagine needing anything different if you really want to go there.

i use it for watching movies that aren't available on the Apple TV, not for production... but seriously... i don't really need to have a wall of Live. some really good productions have been made on 13" laptops.

it's pretty amusing looking at the demands of 2014 music making if you roll back just 5 years... let alone 10.
