The display is good contrast, but the side buttons are a bit darkish. I do have the power supply plugged in btw.

Mostly though, it feels like "home" for lack of a better description.

about Push pads...

i find them very expressive

i've never played a Maschine so i can't compare, but you have to experiment with various settings on the Push to get what you want

i found this to be true even when going from one instrument to another. they don't all respond the same way so you have to adjust Push settings. i have instruments from many sample companies and none are the same

i like that about Push, being able to quickly adjust according to whatever you are playing at the moment
