I've just downgraded from 8.1 pro to windows 7 pro on my laptop (it was an upgrade really) and I think this is my first time running 64bit Live. Performance seems solid! I was able to play 90 tracks without any crackles.

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
All of the samples are missing from the samples folder (folder empty) when I extract the zipfile, so the test plays no audio and Live 8 shows "media missing" in tracks.
Anyone know what's up with that?
Did I do something wrong? I followed test instructions as far as I know.
Thanks.

bump.
Anyone know why there's no samples in the test project folder?
Anyone have the zip with audio they could send me?
Thanks.

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
For any future users that have this issue, I figured it out.
For some reason, my first download of the testfile from the OP of this thread did not include the AIFF sample, the samples folder was empty. I then downloaded the file from the Live 9 performance test thread's OP link and it worked. This was curious to me as the link seemed to go to the same place for the zip download. So I went back and did a test re-download from this thread's OP link and it worked, I got the complete zip this time. Weird!
So if you have no audio samples loaded in the test, try re-downloading the test .zip file.
By the way; I get 20% using the system in my sig.
32 tracks = 62%
On a single core of the Q9550, 8 tracks was 70%

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
- I've been wanting to upgrade for some time now as my laptop is 3 years old. I would prefer something smaller and lighter but nothing comes close to its power.
- I would love the new MacBook 12" but it would be so weak in comparison... Maybe the new 13" Pro? Anybody compared the 13" and 15" much?
- I've been advised to wait as the MBP is due a redesign this year.

Not related but I have a similar model MBP and I tried installing El Capitan and I had serious lagging graphics. The lag on Live's VU's was enough to make me roll back via timecapsule. How's it working for you?tomobri3n wrote:- I've been wanting to upgrade for some time now as my laptop is 3 years old. No issues with El Capitan or graphics. All fine on large projects. Not related but I have a similar model MBP and I tried installing El Capitan and I had serious lagging graphics. The lag on Live's VU's was enough to make me roll back via timecapsule. How's it working for you?
The only very strange issue I have which I cannot figure out at all... Is I sometimes get a flood of cpu for no reason. The project will be running steady around 50% then go crazy 100%+ until I stop. Then will calm back down again.
Im guessing it's a heat issue? Usually happens in Ibiza
