Push-ArrangeMode - control your arrangement view from Push
Hi fellows.
I'm happy to announce that I'm about to deliver a new M4L device that I've worked on for some time.
This patch gives you a Push arrange mode, e.g it lets you control the arrangement view from Push.
In a nutshell: it lets you control horizontal/vertical track zoom, solo mute arm the selected track, unsolo unmute unarm all tracks, control the arrangement record, close the clip/view and the browser, control the arrange loop section, navigate through markers, active/deactive and warp/unwarp the selected clip, navigate between tracks...
It doesn't interfere with other Push modes, everything works as before... you just have a new mode.
It should be available tomorrow.
Cheers
J.

Re: Push-ArrangeMode - control your arrangement view from Push
Hey, it's available, some details:
This device gives your Push its missing Arrangement Mode (plus a few extra bonuses).
It doesn't interfere with other Push's modes, it just adds a new one.
The device mainly works on a "selected track" basis. Ultimately, the main goal of this patch is to use your mouse less, because for a lot of tasks this thing actually is... quite slow.
You'll need at least Live 9.1.3 and Max 6.1.7 if you want everything functions of this device to work as excpected.
So, what does this device do (that means nothing is removed from Push's default behaviour) ? :
- un/fold selected track(s), or all tracks at once
- zoom vertically and horizontally
- new Live10.1 W, H, Z and X zoom shortcuts
- set/display (cross)fades
- de/activate warp on audio clips
- reverse audio
- divide, cut, copy, paste, duplicate clips, tracks, devices.
- show/hide the detail clip Envelope tab!
- bounce in place
- mute/solo/arm individual tracks, and unmute/unsolo/unarm all tracks at once.
- set and de/activate the Arrangement and Clips loop brackets
- toggle on/off the arrangement « follow playhead» thing
- set and navigate locators
- "continue playing" and "play selection" playback modes
- re-enable automations
- toggle between Content and Automation modes
- de/activate Draw mode
- set the global quantisation value
- focus/close the various panels (Browser, device/clip view)
- For some reasons it also makes recording audio, midi and automations in Arrangement problem free (lots of people seems to encounter some problems with this when using the default Push script.)
- Plus, you can also map some of these functions to your computer keyboard or to an other midi device.
You enter ArrangeMode with the SHIFT+SESSION buttons combination. Pressing only SESSION will bo to the default session view/mode.
Get it here for the evil price of 6,66€ (or more if you're rich and generous)
PM me if you prefer paypal.
Have fun.

Here's a visual mapping chart that shows where the actions are assigned on Push (it's Push2 here, but same buttons do the same things on P1), and here's the device's GUI info. There's a written manual too.

Got it. Great idea. Would love to have control over opening i/o, sends, returns, full screen, etc. for both session and arrange views. Maybe the grid buttons could be used for these things?

These are good suggestions, but these functions are not natively accessible from m4l.Dominga wrote:Got it. Great idea. Would love to have control over opening i/o, sends, returns, full screen, etc. for both session and arrange views. Maybe the grid buttons could be used for these things?
My personal patch (which is bit different) does things like that ( cut /copy/paste/erase...) but those things are only doable through keystrokes. The problem is that in order to do that I need to use a max external that only runs on osx AND in 32 bit. I can't make a public device with so many constraints.
Let's hope Ableton/Cycling adds those to the API soon.

ahh, gotcha. Well, I'm on OSX and run 32 bit.......

If you had Bomes you could make this and then distribute it as files for the (free) Bomes player. I'm not sure if it would be worth the hassle though for the little money you probably make with this.Valiumdupeuple wrote:These are good suggestions, but these functions are not natively accessible from m4l.Dominga wrote:Got it. Re: Push-ArrangeMode - control your arrangement view from Push
Sure Tom, but I much prefer an all-native/3rd party free solution.
Dominga, I might re-think about also distributing an osx/32 bit version only with keystrokes mapped on the pads.
To be followed...

Seems I missed this first time around. Screen dumps?
I assume this is to be used instead of PXT and not as a compliment? Regarding arrangement how is it unique featurewise to PXT?

OK, but what does it add to PXT? That is all just a list to me at the moment. I think I want it, but going for PXT first.irrelevance wrote:No it can be used in addition to. I use it for the kill mute/solo switches.Stromkraft wrote:Seems I missed this first time around. Screen dumps?

What is preferable with mute/solo here?

You should have received a download link from gumroad.
If for any reason you haven't, please let me know.

Valiumdupeuple, any chance you could add groove control to this gem or another device?
