Figured out how to edit lesson texts!
Figured out how to edit lesson texts!
You know how you can peep the lessons in Live, and all Ableton packs come with cool-looking lesson texts, too, and you've thought, "I wish I could do that!"
Yeah, I've always wanted to know how to edit the lesson text, too. I've emailed Ableton about it, but they didn't want to tell me.
I've taken a quick look at some packs a few times but never had the patience to find out how the lesson text thing works; my own efforts didn't launch the text area.
Well, today, after drinking loads of coffee, I figured it out.
It's fairly simple. You can add images and links, too.
This would be super handy if you wanted to create lessons of your own; so far, we haven't had the chance. It's not that useful including a text file, to be honest.
Now you can share your songs and add a bit of info about yourself and/or the song. Or, maybe include instructions for a collaborator.
This should be good for those sharing a tutorial project, for informative workshop use, etc.
I did an empty Ableton Live project which will hopefully demonstrate to you, too, how it works.
You can download a project that demonstrates it from my blog post: http://fanumusic.com/ableton-live-lesson-text-hack/
Feel free to share…this should be common knowledge, IMHO, as it's a nice feature.

Nice one.
This could come in handy as I often leave info text for myself in the master channel. I'd prefer this lesson format - more room etc.

Any way to do this for Live 8? Tried opening the project but then realized my mistake!

Sorry, don't have Live 8 anymore but I'd make a wild guess and say it's the same procedure!moonpie wrote:Any way to do this for Live 8? Tried opening the project but then realized my mistake!

It is very much the same, but sadly he can't open it to have a look what you've done, can he?Fanu wrote:Sorry, don't have Live 8 anymore but I'd make a wild guess and say it's the same procedure!moonpie wrote:Any way to do this for Live 8? Tried opening the project but then realized my mistake!
The very core of what you need to do is in the post I've linked to.
Btw. Famu, you haven't explored the ability to create multiple pages ($Page).

I may even have seen it before, but now I've bookmarked it
Re: Figured out how to edit lesson texts!
I updated the set to show the use of multiple pages.
Re: Figured out how to edit lesson texts!
OOPS. I updated it a bit a while ago, and seems i had uploaded an incomplete file. If it didn't work for you, it means you had downloaded it after i updated it with the wrong file (just an .als instead of project).
