Re: Allow Multiple Instances
I believe on Macs you have to copy the application icon so that you literally have two copies on the drive.

Apologies for the overtly sarky pic, it looks like Stringtapper was right.

Odd that there's nothing at all in the manual.

Re: Allow Multiple Instances
No worries.
Thanks for the link.
Yep duplicating the ap inside the ap folder works.
The only reason I wanted to do this was to be able to copy&paste (or drag) scenes between instances.
Unfortunately dragging doesn't work.
Neither does copy/paste coz each instance keeps it's clipboard exclusive.
...in case anyone was thinking of trying that.

Re: Allow Multiple Instances
Just an FUI, and bear in mind I'm on Windows 8.1. Also, this has never worked for me before (and trust me I've tried).... this is with latest version of live 9.
I just randomly enabled the "allow multiple instances" option.
Opened up a second copy of Ableton. It showed the "Found other rewire master" message BUT ReWire does not activate.
Both copies of Live 9 are running on the SAME AUDIO INTEFACE (M-Audio Fast Track Ultra).... on THE SAME OUTPUT CHANNEL..... WITH BOTH NATIVE AND ASIO4ALL DRIVERS
On top of that.... they seem to share the browser.... I can independently configure the output channels via Master Out drop down and options and drag stuff from one to the other.
So far there is no excessive CPU usage.... no memory problems or any other noticeable artifacts that I can see.
On top of all of that, I can actually run a patch cable from output to input and run audio from the second copy into the first (of course with the usual latency).
My prayers have been answered! Seems almost too good to be true....

Not seeing either an Option nor a Preference for 'Multiple Instances' of Live in either 9.1.5 or the latest beta on a Mac -OS X 10.9.5.
Windows only?

Yeah, to run multiple instances on OS X you have to actually have multiple copies of the app on your drive.oblique strategies wrote:Not seeing either an Option nor a Preference for 'Multiple Instances' of Live in either 9.1.5 or the latest beta on a Mac -OS X 10.9.5.

Live 9.1.5
Live 9.1.6b2
Live 8.4.2
No Option or Preference for multiple instances exists in any of these versions.
Do you mean multiple copies of the exact same version of Live on your drive?
