lost inspiration
Re: lost inspiration
As already mentioned, dont stress yourself. Make a break, have a kitkat.
Or just look into some old projects of yourself. You will be suprised what you have there.

Re: lost inspiration
In no particular order:
1.Keep on doing what you're doing
2.Get yourself a deck of Oblique Strategies
3.Listen to different music than what you have listened to the last few days
4.If the Muse really is somewhere else for a moment, you can always watch a tuorial about some nerd technique
5.Experiment with unusual stuff
Especially 3.) often is the reason for temporary loss of inspiration for me - i listen too much to a particular style of music i usually like (and is related to what i do) and soon i get bored.Sometimes it really helps to listen to completely different music to remind you what else is out there and how many different ways there are to skin a cat.("Skin a cat" - do people say that ? I'm german so no idea if this expression is as oldfashioned as it gets)

Re: lost inspiration
Lots of good advice here. I also like listening to old projects and sometimes feel re-inspired. I'm actually doing that as I cruise!

Re: lost inspiration
Go to bed early, get enough sleep.
Because a, this is where your brain assimilates the things yo have picked up and reforms them for you, almost like magic
b. you have far more mental energy when you are well rested. And loads of us aren't
Seriously, few people recognise how important sleep / rest is!
And, I am sure there are loads of people on here that will say I do my best work at 4 am and / or feel super great when really exhausted. Brilliant for you - but much of this is repetition, learning and performance. We perform far better at all of those things / almost everything when well rested.
Oh and learn to meditate. Taking time out to let your brain rest when awake and de-stress works wonders for the creative process.

Re: lost inspiration
Whenever someone asks me what's the sound of one hand clapping, I just fold fingers 2345 into the palm repeatedly... et voila. Quite audible.
Now, had you said "the sound of one hand clapping backwards"... but that would be Zen 2.0 already, still in beta.

I think Zen inspired music may be more fitting, like music in the Zen state of mind. I think I get there sometimes but it doesn't work quite like Western music. I wrote this song in a Zen-inspired state, but afterword the bass didn't quite fit in. There is a necessary 'collapse' in the Zen state of mind. At least that's my experience with Zen! I'm no master or anything but I did study a little of Shunryu Suzuki's thoughts and ideas!
