Question for Ipad owners.
Question for Ipad owners.
I am aware that there are some interesting music apps for the Ipad but would like to know:
1. What is the best way to get midi to/from the Ipad (what connector, do you need drivers)?
2. What is the best way to get audio from the Ipad into your soundcard (is it simply taking the audio from the headphone output).

Re: Question for Ipad owners.
With a powered usb hub and the $20 camera connection kit you can plug in a lot of different things.
If you have any spare usb audio interfaces, they 'could' work. I use a Zoom H4 in soundcard mode.
You can plug most midi controllers in also.
So for sound, a soundcard 'could' work,
For midi, you'll be able to either use midi in and out on a soundcard or on a midi controller. Or maybe a usb to midi.
But all of this requires a Powered usb hub, and the lightening to USB connector.
Sometimes you'll be lucky enough to have a keyboard or audio interface that can plug directly without requiring a powered USB hub. In that case you have an extremely portable setup haha.
I cannot vouch for the iConnect options. It looks very cohesive, so that might simplify all your needs. I'd look up youtube reviews.

Re: Question for Ipad owners.
Thanks for the info guys.
Re: Question for Ipad owners.
Most of the core audio compliant soundcard will work directly, so you don't always need the hub. For midi io, those cheap $5 1x1 midi to USB adaptors on Amazon work surprisingly well.

Re: Question for Ipad owners.
I have a Babyface which I believe is compliant though I have never used that functionality.
Re: Question for Ipad owners.
I think the babyface has a 'class compliant mode' which can be activated. I did a search for 'rme babyface ipad' hoping to look up videos and saw there were a few links as results. I havent checked videos yet haha
Re: Question for Ipad owners.
I think the cheapest option for MIDI in/out, audio outs and audio ins is the Roland Duo capture EX.
There is also the new arturia one.
Innectmidi seems nice, but lacks audio outputs for me.
