Another vote AGAINST the DUCKING ORANGE FOT!!!!!!!!!!!

I HATE this "Feature" and wish there were at LEAST an option to turn it OFF!!

That way everyone can get back to making music.

ABLETON PLEASE KILL THE DOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!or at least give us the option??

just to follow up in the L5 pdf on page 95 there is a VERY small explanation of the dot and what it does.

They left out the fact about it being a pain in the arse and how it was their bad by not letting us toggle the damn thing off if we DON'T LIKE IT!!!

I think that's all on the dot for now...........................................damn dot...

dot me

Post by KU » Wed Aug 24, 2005 8:48 pm

I have no problems with the dot

I am vinyl junkie, and am ecstatic that Live now works more like vinyl

I am having no erratic clip behavior, but I am having fun mixing tracks on Live. Up until this version I would not play longer tracks in Live.

Maybe thats why I just cant grasp this thing....I'm no DJ, I'm doing multitrack recording. I really like live because of it's 'liveness'...i compose as i play/record. I REALLY liked live 4, and was happy to send Ableton 50 bucks for the upgrade. There are some very cool things in 5, but the dot is forcing me back to version 4. Fighitng with the dot disrupts my workflow blows my vibe and ends my sessions in frustration.

I would happily pay ANOTHER 50 bucks if Ableton would provide a way for me to disable the dot...just a checkbox in the settings to turn it off, or even a registry key that I could set. I'm really bummed about having to go back to version 4.

I don't want to take the dot away from the folks that get use out of it...I think it's great that you guys got a toy you like so much....but the damn thing has rendered live 5 unusable for me.

I've found that by simply using the start marker as usual and ignoring the dot it is a lot better.

just remember that the clip now needs re-triggering to begin again from the start marker. Not like 4 where it re-triggered every time you move the start marker.

ignore the dot luke.
and set a key for revert!

it's all fine then. (Apart from the capture scene start marker issues which seem related)

I'm Still not loving the preview speaker being everywhere though.

Revert isnt always lit....and when it does work, it only lasts until the next time I play the clip...then the dot comes back. It's maddening!
