I haven't bothered to upgrade to 9 because of this.
Erm, it sounds like you are describing "Reduced Latency When Monitoring". that's been resolved for ages. It used to be in options text and we pretty much annoyed them until they put it into the menu. When RLWM is on you'll be out of sync with beaty effects, but you'll have a fast path to the output. When RLWM is off you will be in sync with the latency of the set and beaty effects, but you will have latency.
From the manual
When Delay Compensation is on, the Reduced Latency When Monitoring option is available in
the Options menu. This option toggles latency compensation on and off for tracks which have input
monitoring on. When enabled, input-monitored tracks will have the lowest possible latency,
but may be out of sync with some other tracks in your Set (such as Return tracks, which are still
delay compensated.) When disabled, all tracks will be in sync, but input-monitored tracks may
have higher latency.
Note that tempo-synced effects and other devices that get timing information from Live’s internal
clock may sound out of sync if they are placed in a device chain after devices which cause delay.

From what I can gather it only really affects a small number of users, but they have been very vocal about it on the forums.

outch?! to be honest it's a huge issue! and effects a lot of users!
ok if someone not relying on 3rd party plugins then you never deal with this "bug"

but if you use a lot of UAD stuff and or professional EQ's and you need precise automation it will effect everyone!

for example: if you have a bigger project and you start to create a break or effect .. where you need suddenly to kill a reverb tail... for example on Bar 10.1.1
so you will draw an automation that will cut the volume on 10.1.1.
if you have some 3rd party cpu hungry plugins in your project.. you still hear some of the tail AFTER 10.1.1 !! which is a no go.

But now with the beta 9.2 it is finally fixed! hallelujah :)

Hoping this update eliminates delay in m4l midi devices. Regardless of how minimal that delay is, it prohibits some really interesting things.

1. I wish the tuner had the option for pitch-correction. I mean, they are that close to it, why not go all the way??

2. What exactly is the layout for 64 drum mode? Is it completely row by row, or is it like Launchpad's User1 mode?? This is a pretty crucial decision. Does it have options via the 'scale' button?? :P

yes, it looks like this is eliminated - no more delays for M4L effects!

Thanks for the update, Ableton. The modwheel and the tuner are very welcome additions.

But WTF can't you add Session Overview (like the Launchpad, etc., etc. ) to the APC mini and APC Key 25 so we can use them with our sets that we've organized into banks? SHEESH!

it's in quadrants - from bottom left, to top left, to bottom right, to top right.

if it was possible to load a kit into each quadrant, then yea it would be great, but currently it doesn't really make sense to me as 4x 4x4... i'd much prefer a 16x16 grid.

Actually, it is exactly how id prefer. So I guess we each have our distinct tastes :).

Still, this might also make it adaptable for all those kids making their YouTube videos on launchpads haha

no doubt! i just find it odd to have it this way when Drum Racks are currently too limited to make 64-pad kits a pleasant experience:

- you can't drop Drum Rack adg preset kits onto the first pad of a 4x4 block to populate the 16(+) pads
- you can't multi-select pads in the drum rack to copy/paste them to the next 16-pad block
- you can't move a multiselection of Drum Rack chains to a new 16-pad block
- you can't group 4x Drum Racks to an Instrument Rack and add a Pitch effect at +16, +32...

all drum hits need to be inside a single un-nested Drum Rack for all 64 pads to be playable/lit up yellow, making it a pain in the ass to create 64-pad kits from existing 16-pad ones.
it's either an as-yet unfinished feature or another half-assed implementation of one :x

so yea, i'd prefer a straight up 16x16 grid :)

PDC! Finally I will be able to craft endless amounts of highly popular yet credible music!,,! (Although I remember thinking something similar back when I figured out side chaining)
