Anyone using Focal Alpha monitors?

Does anyone have experience with Focal Alpha series monitors? I would be interested in your experience with them. Cheers.

yup. got the 50s when they were first released. very good monitors for the price, well suited for my small room.
decent low end reach too, which was surprising. they tend to 'hiss' when no music is playing through them, a bit more than other monitors i've had, anyway. but it's no big issue.

SOS had very good things to say in their review of them:

Thanks for the info. My HS50M's have a hiss as well. Here is a review from someone comparing them to Genelecs http://www.sonicscoop.com/2014/09/10/re ... en-borgia/

Cheers

I have the 50s, and I love them. Most of my experience is with the old Event 20/20s and various sizes of KRK Rockits, but the Focals are nothing short of amazing to me. I don't have a large room, so the 50s work great--clean and clear across the whole spectrum, loud, plenty of readable bass and separation. They look great, too.

GaryBoozy mentioned hiss above. I concur with what he said, but most every monitor I have used has had some degree of hiss with my head right in the sweet spot. It's definitely not a problem here either.

I'm genuinely surprised that there isn't more discussion on this line anywhere. I looked at a lot of monitors when I bought these. Everything in my price range seemed either to have rear ports (which I didn't want) or that "boxy" woof that makes all bass drums sound roughly the same. These cover both of those issues for me at a price I was willing pay. So hecks yeah.

I sold a keyboard to get the Focal CMS 65's a couple years ago and I'm pretty sold on Focal in general.

The only other monitors for under $4K that were any good were the Adams and they had a lot of forced air, enough to be kind of uncomfortable at loud volumes.

Nobody carries them locally anymore, it's lame. :x
