I'm hoping so... because I can't decide which I'd prefer... both have advantages.
We hadn't planned to do this, sorry.
well there's still time
thanks for posting Dennis. It's nice to see you back on the forum. I'm looking forward to reading your book.

Just received my copy. Very glad to see Dennis doesn't shy away from using standard music notation every once in a while (even if it is set with Sibelius
).

Open the midi clip in the clip view. Make sure all the tabs are unfolded. Poke around in there, you'll find some useful stuff.

This can't really be done automatically. You have to move the individual notes by hand. This could be a nice Max for Live project, however.

Actually, I decided to give this a try myself. Here's a device that does pitch rotation:

I'm impressed.
On a more serious note, you'd get a pretty good idea of what to expect if you read the free online chapters.

I did and there's some great ideas in there, some stuff i was already doing but anything that shows you a different perspective or gets you to think differently is always welcome.
I was curious about the techniques more than anything.

Dennis, thank you for putting this together. Apart from the excellent and helpful content, it is a beautiful book to hold and read.
Quick question - any plans of turning this into a series of video tutorials?
Thanks again

Thanks, glad you're enjoying it.
I hadn't considered making videos out of these, since many of them are somewhat abstract and philosophical. Certainly the more concrete ones could work well this way. It's something to think about.

You are aware that the actual author is reading this thread, right?!
Is that how you always converse with people in your life?!

Oh, it was just a (rude?) way to show my impatience and eagerness to buy a book that seems to be great.
My apologies to Dennis, Ableton and anyone else involved in the book that might have got hurt. I just want to buy a digital book.
