Virus ti + tr-8 or maschine?
Virus ti + tr-8 or maschine?
I'm a long term ableton user, but like many others am looking for more hands on integration, rather than VSTs. I've picked up a used virus ti, and am looking for some quality hardware drum integration. I'm looking at a used maschine mk1 running 2.2, or possibly aira tr-8. I need tight and easy flawless set up within ableton. Have read of some issues with this and the tr-8. Advice and possible suggestions would be much appreciated.

I would say that Maschine is more versatile than the TR8. But then again, what do you want that you can't do with Live?

If you want an easy setup with Ableton I think Maschine would be the route to go, it integrates very well an allows a very "hardware" like experience where you almost never have to use the computer.
I have both Machine and Push and have experimented with using both, it's a very nice combo.
Lately I'm only using Push for simplification purposes but you can't really go wrong with Maschine if you want to go that route.
The problem I've heard about the TR-8 is that it forces really high sample rates so it eats up a ton of CPU for everything else in Ableton to run 96k vs 44.1 (this may have changed in driver updates recently but I'm not sure).
