Midi map Looper's "drag me" button
Allow the "drag me" button to become Midi-mappable.... with the resulting drags going to an assigned audio channel, and with the same action, clear looper's buffer.
I quite like the re-sampling/overdubbing of audio, as it can create really interesting textures, and i think if the drag button became midi-assignable, you could have the best of both worlds, in that you could loop and loop and create textures, or you could tap on a key or a footswitch each bar, or 4 bars or however long you want, and midi-map-drag to create clips.

+1!
This will help my live workflow so much. right now in my live sets the only times I find myself touching my computer is when I want to drag the contents of a looper to a clip. It really stops the flow of my show. Dragging hitting play and stopping the looper. together about 10 seconds during which I perform as a computer tech and not a musician.

A new button named "move to cliptrack" with automatic playback setting seems better and more usable.

Would also be great if the default clip mode was NOT repitch. Can't tell you how many times I've dragged a loop to a clip slot, fired it, then jammed for a while and went to increase/decrease the tempo, only to have the looper clip fall out of tune. Very annoying.

Kind of an old post, but another +1 for this idea - gotta have that, come on Ableton!

I've posted about this here as well:
Auto punch out of session view clips:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=221788
That's a (simple) solution that, in my mind, would solve the looper "drag me" issue. For me, while really powerful, ableton is a cramped experience for LIVE musicians who want/need to be interacting with the audience and not their laptop screen. (I personally dislike seeing musicians onstage who are umbilical corded to their laptop. Makes for a poor performance IMO.) Auto punch out would go a long way towards being able to build loops LIVE onstage while minimizing the need to look at a screen. Simply use a controller button to activate a clip set at the global quantization, start playing, and then ableton stops recording after the GQ value (i.e., 2 bars, 4 bars, etc..). It's the looper functionality, but built into the clip slots (so no "drag me" is required). Seems so obvious, and as I mentioned in the post above, people have been looking it for this for at least 7 years. I guess if ableton can't get to it, then they'll have a run for their money when Loopy Mastepriece edition comes out.
I've also made this suggestion as a feature for on stage musicians:

Re: Midi map Looper's "drag me" button
Hi Everyone,
I just posted this image in another thread (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=221788&p=1700281#p1700281) and thought I'd share it here as well. It basically involves a global clip slot parameter that gives looper functionality to the individual clip slots. If you'd like to support this idea, please go to that other thread and bump it.

Re: Midi map Looper's "drag me" button
Hi everyone, I posted a new design image here:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=221788&p=1700387#p1700387
It gives an idea of how punch out clip slot recording would work and would solve the "drag me" subject of this thread.

Re: Midi map Looper's "drag me" button
Here's another idea for a solution:
Just add this functionality to the looper:
For the line in the looper that says: "Record [x bars] then [option: overdub, play loop]
Add a third option that is "deposit loop to first available clip slot for selected scene (starting on the left), play that clip slot, and clear the looper."
With that functionality, a musician can have a track called "Line In" with the looper on it, set a midi event to start recording and ableton can handle the rest.
