APC 40 + LAUNCHPAD- MIDI CONFLICTS

Post by GLJdrew » Mon Apr 20, 2015 12:37 am

Is it possible to midi map all 64 pads on the launchpad, as well as midi map these specific APC40 buttons: send A, send B, send C, midi overdub, req quantization, nudge +/- without having some overlap?

I had midi note 6/D# mapped in ableton so that if i had that pad, it would show me one of my instrument racks without having to scroll left and right across the chain. However, when I went to map the "send C" button the apc 40 so I could instantly see something on my send C channel, i no longer could use the 6/D# pad on the launchpad to see the instrument rack. Instead it took me to the send channel.

I've always wondered what use I could have for changing midi channels and I figured this would be an instance where that saves me...Is this possible with the APC40 and launchpad S?

Thanks!

PS im a newbie with midi so maybe I'm missing something really obvious?

The button you press in the send C, I am assuming that is not a "6/D#"? That alone is peculiar, because I'm pretty sure that those buttons do not use channel 6.

For the launchpad, there are two user pages (plus several sends and a pan) to choose from which are all available for mapping. Those are all on different channels. So if one interferes, there is always another. There is ALSO automap, which is a whole other mode, as a mapping option. Just so you are aware.

I guess the biggest thing that it'd help to understand is what specifically you are trying to do? Are you attempting to grab control of two different devices at once, in different sections? The blue hand only allows one device 'at a time', but I think the APC has a lock option so you can then leave it at one device while you navigate to others.

But then again, maybe that is not what you're attempting. A slightly more detailed description would help. Unless of course the information I've shared has already helped you resolve the issue haha

I would also understand if you are trying to use a specific page from the LP, because it might have features that you intend to use at the same time as when you press the button. And therefore would not want to switch pages.
