Being a music teacher I make music in a wide range of styles including classical, jazz, mor instrumental, dance, ambient... I love Ableton Live for all of them :D

The quartets, the symphonies, or the preludes and fuges for piano?
Or something else?

Not his operas, I hope. Egad!

Quartets 5, 11, and 13 today (one disc). I have all of them in a quite decent box set performed by the Rubio quartet (they're maybe a little sterile, though, but I can't claim to be an authority on the subject). I must say I prefer chamber music to orchestral music and IMHO this is definitely up there with the best.

Shosty's quartets ARE up there with the best. Only Beethoven's quartets surpass them, IMO, and even then only slightly.

May I highly recommend the complete Shostakovich quartet cycle as recorded by the Fitzwilliam Quartet on Decca? It's usually bargain priced, and considered by many to be the definitive performances of these pieces.

I usually say there's "my music" and "your music" and then start tossing the four letter words around. I find the fun greatly increases when you do it like that.

My music? I guess you could call it Electronic Shoegazer.

Basically indie rock with a computer involved. I play on stage with a laptop + Ozonic keyboard to trigger sounds and play soft synths, but I also have a guitar or bass going through an amp with effect pedals.

Now I'm playing Ableton and bass guitar in this act www.dempseymusic.net
I guess you could call Dempsey trip-hop.

Here's a Progressive Tribal track now.
Love Current - Purefunk (Progressive Tribal House)

Let me know what you think.

My style is called silence and my instrument is my breath.
