What's the consensus on the new Dr. Dre album.
I haven't listened to it yet but I haven't been able to find it on Pirate Bay. Is it worth my time to hunt around for it or is it just meh?

i like it alright, but it ain't THE CHRONIC.

I'm a pretty big Dre fan, but I'm really disappointed from the preview, really.
Ableton 9, Feeltune Rhizome, Focusrite Pro, Mpk249....

It's shit. What else would you like to know.

Attempted to listen to it for background music for our Friday night happy hour. Changed it after 4 tracks.
Since launch it’s taking up 4 rotating banner spaces on iTunes.

only 4. wow. they must have really dialed back the urge not to make purchasing it a popup option every time you log in. i'd half way expect it to be another U2 maneuver where you find it in your library when you wake up... except this time you actually got charged for it.beats me wrote:Since launch it’s taking up 4 rotating banner spaces on iTunes.

Seriously. It’s like “Check out Dr. Dre’s Compton!! No? Then how about Dr. Dre’s Compton!! Still no? Alright, we hear you! How about Dr. Dre’s Compton!! In case you missed the last 3 consecutive ads, check out Dr. Dre’s Compton!!”

Isn't that the guy who makes this overhyped shit head phones? He raps too?

uh yeah.TomViolenz wrote:He raps too?
his influence over hip-hop is fucking massive. he was the musical brains behind N.W.A., there was a DJ but the beats were Dre. eventually, a KORG Triton was his weapon of choice, but i believe he plays a few other instruments too... a bass guitar at least.
both Snoop Dog and Eminem owe him for their solo careers at some level. they were only made famous from him putting them under his wing and introducing them as the "pass the mic to" rapper on the two albums (one each) that introduced them to Dre's fan base.
the headphones thing is more the Dre as business man than Dre as performer. basically headphones being sold on the strength of Dre's name.
Step 1 product
Step 2 Dre
Step 3 profit
are you really serious by asking these questions? sorry, it's just that as i type i think even white girls that are country music fans know this shit. not calling you ignorant or anything... just surprised that you would ask. you seem WAY more switched on regarding music than this question would leave one to believe.

I can understand if you've never heard of Guillaume de Machaut. I get it that Anton Webern might never have crossed your radar. Hell, you might not even know who Ray Brown was for all I know.
But not knowing that Dr. Dre is a rapper?
Wait, maybe Tom was thinking about the Yo MTV Raps Dr. Dre…???

A bit superfluous, no?
You know how many sweatshops you could fit in that thing? It's a wasted philanthropic opportunity.

Yeah well, I guess if you've got the money... I wouldn't know though... I'd be happy with an extra closet and a dishwasher. An extra bedroom and a second kitchen sink might make me implodeshadx312 wrote:A bit superfluous, no?

Well it's an understandable counter after Compton.
