I own and love both. The "digital" sound people mention about Serum is largely related to very high quality including more of the frequency spectrum than normally heard...I love the clarity and can always filter if needed. Zebra may ultimately be deeper, Serum more accessible

If you get Serum you can get another 25,000 Waveforms for $40 here to drop in it.

That should keep you busy. Of course you can also use those in any wavetable synth that allows you to use your own sound sources (Massive doesn't).

zebra <3

@pencilrocket yeah, zebra's gui is my only gripe with the synth. it's very old though and they're working on zebra 3 which is also supposed to feature a new (read better) interface.

@LFO8 yeah except zebra had a bug that wouldn't remember the theme or zoom lever so it would revert to default right after it was closed. time to check out that update.

One of the better user ones I've seen, I kinda like it.

That skin,"Redux", is great for workflow. I think u-he will (should) be taking some ideas for Z3 from it.

Here is the thread where you can download it from:

I like the layout and general look, but the contrast is too little, it's kinda blurry to use IMO, too blended.

Yeah, it took some time to get used to that aspect of it. There are variations of the colour scheme included in the download though.

The only variation I see is where he mixes the Zebra Redux theme colors in a bit.

For me it's all about this skin for Zebra http://plugmon.org/zebra-pokemod/
You do have to pay for it but I reckon it's well worth it.
