Help making a footswitch that can do A, B, and AB via midi

Post by catsandwich » Thu Nov 12, 2015 8:48 pm

I've been using a Roland FC-200 for a while now with Live and it works great. To get A(fender twin), B(mesa tremoverb), and AB to work, I use the FC-200 in midi note mode and use a device chain. This gives me access to each option, but it also uses up 3 of the 12 buttons on the device.

I could switch to midi CC's. That would allow me to switch between A and B with a single footswitch, but I then lose the ability to play both amps at once.

I'd love to switch away from midi note mode anyway because button 8# doesn't function in that mode. #8 lies where B# would exist, so Roland deactivates it.

Any recommendations on a better/bigger footswitch that will work without max4live? I bought a ground control, but needed to convert pgm changes to midi notes using M4L and I don't trust this stuff for live use. I also tried the keith mcmillan stuff, but the buttons are tiny and I've got big feet. My triggers do crazy stuff and accidentally hitting one can jack the entire set up.
